Light installation ‘LichtLucht’ is part of a 4 Light installation ‘LichtLucht’ is part of a 4-year plan of the urban renewal of Almere Buiten. The design unites the districts on either side of the train station, increases the feeling of safety in the underpass and simultaneously creates a unique eye-catcher. “Together with local partners, we are working hard on making the center attractive and future-proof again for residents, entrepreneurs and visitors.” - @hildevangarderen, alderman for public space of Almere. Light installation ‘LichtLucht’ by Arttenders Light installation ‘LichtLucht’ by Arttenders x @Venividimultiplex will soon illuminate the entire underpass of Almere Buiten station, including its darkest parts. The design increases the feeling of safety and creates a unique experience out of every visit. Through dynamic programming of LED-lines, we can display a clear blue sky with white clouds, but also thunderstorms, a sunset or a starry sky. The strategy is the result of an extensive research on how welfare, sport, greening, climate adaptation, area development and local needs of residents and entrepreneurs can be combined within a functional and iconic design in the public space. ⠀ ⠀ The first result? The Splash is the first in a series of ‘Shapes’ for Rotterdam. The Splash connects the Rotterdam-mentality to the urban development of the city. With, by and in service of all Rotterdammers.⠀ ⠀ Surrounding entrepreneurs, residents, Hart van Zuid, Rotterdam City Council and landscape architect Karres en Brands were, therefore, actively involved in the design process. Local artist @cindy_bakker was selected for this project by a professional and public jury.
